The Oklahoma State Fair was a blast this weekend...we walked around until our feet hurt. We saw the exotic petting zoo, the barnyard, a dog stunt show, every kind of booth/vendor you can possibly imagine and...FRIED FOOD! I've heard they will fry anything if you bring it to them, but who knows. Mom and Dad had corn dogs and I tried my first Polish dog (I'm not a huge meat eater). I also made myself sick on cotton candy. Ah, and we discovered a virtual candy land...you grab a basket and weave through a maze of candy...it was my fantasy! They had candy from my childhood, my parent's childhood, and a bunch of new weird stuff. I loaded up on banana laffy taffy, candy orange slices, swizzle sticks, salt water taffy, runts...just to name a few. I packed in $10 worth of candy! I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I am certain he won't be happy!
All in all, the fair is a great experience. Plenty to see, eat and drink. Parking wasn't a problem at all and of course, since it's Oklahoma, everyone was super friendly. I love this place!
See ya next year,

Can't wait till next year--this time I will try the deep-fried peaches.
We take a crunchy, all-beef taco, smother it in nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato and our special southwestern sauce. Then we wrap it in a soft, flour tortilla with a layer of refried beans in-between. Then we wrap that in a savory corn tortilla with a middle layer of Monterey Jack cheese. Then we take a deep-fried gordita shell, smear on a little of our special "guacamolito" sauce and wrap that around the outside. But it gets even bigger! Because we bake it in a corn husk filled with pico de gallo, then then wrap that in an authentic Parisian crepe, filled with egg, gruyere, merguez sausage and Portobello mushroom.
Finally we take the whole thing and wrap that in a Chicago style deep dish meat lovers pizza! But it's not a Taco Town taco until we roll it up in a blueberry pancake, dip it in batter and deep-fry it until it's golden brown. Then we serve it in all commemorative tote bag filled with spicy vegetarian chili. It's 15 great tastes all rolled into one.
"Pizza? Now THAT'S what I call a taco!!"
